Get out the tissues, this love story is quite quite special.
Picture it...New Jersey, 1971.
A boy and a girl meet at the bus stop on their way to school. A spark is ignited. A romance begins. They are each other's prom dates. Twice. They date for three years. But, as any good love story goes, their love is fragile and the relationship ends. The young woman goes on to marry another man. A wonderful man. She gives birth to a wonderful baby girl and they have a wonderful life together. She valiantly triumphs over breast cancer and becomes a pink warrior. Sadly, after a lifetime together, her husband passes away. For some women, her life would be over. Her husband gone, she has no one to share this life with. That chapter of her life has closed.
Or has it?
Life goes on and she becomes a grandmother three times over. Three gorgeous little children who ensure her immortality as they have her life and spirit rushing through their veins.
But what about that first love? The prom date? The man she loved long before she was a mother. Decades before she was someone's grandmother. Did he find someone else to love? Someone else to spend the past four decades with?
No.
He never married.
Never.
I am sure you are wondering why. Why would a man who is so vivacious and handsome and kind and generous and loving NOT marry at least one or two lucky women?
When you see the pictures, you'll know why. Because below are the pictures of a man who apparently has been waiting DECADES for the woman he loves. Below are the pictures of a man who has waited patiently on the sidelines for his love to come back to him. The look of pure exuberance and triumph on his face the entire day made me want to weep for joy for him.
He was, quite literally, the happiest man I have ever laid eyes upon.
But why am I telling you all this? You already know this, don't you? For the very few hearing people who may not know this couple, they are pillars of the Deaf Community. The bride is somewhat of a celebrity in the South Jersey Deaf/Hard of Hearing world. If you are in anyway involved with the Deaf, as a professional. as a friend, as a member of their ministry...as a classmate from Katzenbach, or an Interpreter, or a CODA...you know this couple. They're quite the celebrities in the Deaf community.
I am so filled with joy that I got the opportunity to not only meet these two amazing people but got to experience such a love story that is this one between a pink warrior and the man who has loved her his entire adult life.
