I was having a conversation with my husband the other night about photographs and the importance of them in our lives. Photographs bring us back to a time in our past that we cherish in our present. And don't you know, the little darling, light of my life, HUSBAND OF A PHOTOGRAPHER actually said to me..."I really don't think pictures are all that important. I have all the memories I need right here," and then proceeded to tap his head.
I know, it's like the shoemaker's wife not even wanting her kids to wear shoes! Seriously?
Since I adore the yin/yang that my husband and I base our relationship on, I proudly and vehemently disagreed and this session proves why. Because photographs provide us with the memories our memory banks cannot possibly afford us. Details of where we were, whom we were with, the sights, the sounds, the smells of our life. A photograph can bring all that back in an instant with one clap of the shutter.
And that is why I was so overjoyed that this couple chose to have their engagement session in their first home. The home they will very soon after this, walk into as husband and wife. The home that may not be their home forever but the home that was theirs at this precious stage of life.
And I am so honored that I am able to give them photographs that they will cherish for years to come of that home that welcomed them as husband and wife for the first time.
Now if you'll excuse me, my husband is about to be reunited with memories of our life together (whether he likes it or not!)
