Sometimes I wonder when my children grow up if they will be as wonderful and glorious as adults as they are now at two and four years old. This family has answered my question. Simply put...
Yes.
What a beautiful occasion I was called upon to photograph. A surprise party to celebrate a 25th wedding anniversary! Their story is as sweet as I have heard. While both the lovebirds were born and raised in India, they were married in America in a super small ceremony that was painfully bereft of their families who could not travel the long way for the occasion. Even though a wonderful marriage and a wonderful life with two wonderful children followed, the bride always felt pangs of sadness over not being able to have a large celebration with all their family to commemorate their love.
And that's when those glorious children stepped up to bat.
While this party was thrown with the intent of celebrating 25 years of bliss, it was really to give their mother the "wedding" she never had, surrounded by all her friends and family. Unfortunately, with the recent passing of her parents and her siblings living in California, the party was really most populated by her husband's family. But after 25 years, they're hers, too. So while it was not the full celebration they would have had 25 years ago, it was still heartstoppingly wonderful what their children did for them.
Sigh...such good kids.
I am so honored they called on me because as I look back upon these pictures, I am filled with good memories of my own! Laughing at the results of the "shoe game", exploring my spice tolerance with the Indian cuisine, and enjoying the intoxicatingly beautiful colors and designs of the plethora of saris, I think I had a better time than the family, themselves!
And no surprise party worth its curry is complete without an even bigger surprise. One that NO ONE saw coming.
Ready? Ready for this? It's a big one.
Naaah, I'll wait until you see the pictures to tell you what the BIG surprise was. I will tell you, it's gonna bring a tear to your eye!
In addition to laughs and smiles and tears of joy, there were some of the most beautiful delicious cupcakes I have ever seen! They were little works of art. So apropos considering this couple is living....
the sweet life.
Alright, here it is. Here is the big BIG surprise.
All the way from California...the bride's family surprised her! They did come after all!!! Their family is united again! Oh darn, I'm crying again.
