One of the reasons I love being a wedding photographer is that I get to meet some terrific couples and their families. One of my favorite parts of the wedding process is hearing each couple's story: how they met, how they knew each other was their one. This couple was no different with a love story that started in New Jersey and traveled all the way to the Winter Lettuce Capital of the World and back again.
But this couple was different for me.
I thought hearing their story would be my favorite part, as always is, but it was not. My favorite part of this wedding was the couple themselves and the palpable bond they had with each other. Seeing them interact with the world around them as individuals and then seeing the same scene play out when they were together was one of the most romantic sights I have yet to see. The serenity that came over both their faces when they were reunited just made my heart swell. Hearing both of them lament in almost the exact same fashion over the mere hours they had been separated before the wedding and then seeing both of their faces the moment they were reunited was so powerful. It was as though their souls were restored. It was as though any moment they spent away from each other was a moment of life wasted. We marry in this life for a purpose but each couple's purpose is a little different. This couple's purpose was clear.
They are one soul.
Their individual souls are not complete without each other. The joy they bring each other's life is so clear to see and feel, it made me want to run home and hug my husband because it reminded me of the power of true eternal love.
Alright, that was too sappy for even me. Let me just give it to you straight: the couple was cool, they love each other a lot, the wedding was a lot of fun.
And a super big thank you to my absolutely AMAZINGLY fabulous second shooter, Laura Napoli, who just be may the other half of my photography soul. The joy she brought my life is palpable to anyone who sees us work together. Oh yeah, sorry. Sappy-alert. Laura was cool. I love her a lot. She took nice pictures.
Speaking of pictures...
